National Litter Index

The number of butts in the litter stream has gone down according to the 2010-2011 Keep Australia Beautiful National Litter Index.

A total of 29 butts per 1000m² were found in 2010-11 compared to 32 in 2009-10. This continues a positive downward trend from a high of 35 butts in 2006-07.  Butts represent only a very small volume of overall litter (just 0.003 litres per 1000m²).
